A tale of two budgets

The Clovis Olympic Swim Complex at Clovis West High School has been one of the premiere athletic facilities in the Fresno area for almost half a century.
This year, the complex has been undergoing a complete teardown and overhaul to address significant plumbing and capacity issues in all three pools.
A Tale of Two Budgets presents for consideration multiple scenarios at differing price points for this renovation.

BUDGET 1: NEW DECK, new shade, and DIVE TOWER REfurbishment

Budget 1 would upgrade the facility from where it stands today with few major changes to the layout of the complex. A new concrete deck would be poured for the entirety of the facility, and a shade structure would be constructed over the existing bleachers. All three pools would be re-plastered, re-tiled, and re-plumbed. The diving tower would receive refurbishment, new platform deck surfaces, the addition of a 1-meter platform, and new concrete pedestals for the 1- and 3-meter springboards.

BUDGET 2: TWO 50-METER POOLS WITH NEW DIVE TOWER

Budget 2 would be culminate in a drastic transformation for the complex. In addition to the new concrete deck and the shade structure over the bleachers, the existing diving pool and therapy pools would be combined into a 50-meter pool. The existing diving tower would be demolished in order to expand the pool width to 25-meters, and a modern diving tower would be constructed on the South side of the new 50-meter pool. This would make Clovis West one of a handful of facilities in the country (along with Clovis North) to contain dual 50-meter pools, bringing Clovis Unified to the top of the list or major national and international swimming and diving events.
